a book by Douglas Adams

Perhaps the only book at amazon.com with over 300 reviews (333, last I checked).

If you've never read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (and its sequels), it's a modern Gulliver's Travels. Prescient in the 80's and still so today.

The author, Douglas Adams, was also a script editor (and sometimes writer) for the Doctor Who series. He completely wrote the script for one of its episodes, "City of Death", under the pseudonym David Agnew.
